Welcome to our new school term in Foundation Stage 2
We hope that you all had an enjoyable holiday and are ready to get back into the swing of things? We really enjoyed meeting the children back in July and we have been busy over the past couple of weeks getting the unit ready for them to start full time.
To help settle the children into their new surroundings they will only be in school for half sessions for the first 2 days (Thursday 6th – Friday 6th of September.) The office staff will have emailed you to let you know whether your child will attend the morning or afternoon session.
AM session: 9:00am-11:30am
PM session: 12:30pm-3:00pm
From Monday 9th September, all FS2 children will be in school from 8:30am-3:15pm. You will need to drop your child off at the coloured picket fence in the morning and they will be collected from there at the end of the day. We appreciate your patience during collection times, as we get to know your faces, and promise we will get quicker over the next couple of weeks.
A few important notices:
* Please send in your child’s PE kits and wellies at your earliest convenience. We will be starting Forest School and PE from week 2. All items need to be clearly labelled and stay in school for the whole half term. We will send them home to be washed at the October half term holiday.
* As part of our morning routine we have a rolling snack provided for the children to independently access. We ask for you to make a small payment of £25 to cover the cost of this for the entire year. This money also allows your child to take part in various food tasting and cooking sessions throughout the year. All payments to be made via Parent Mail. Thank you in advance.
* We will send out the reading books, and diaries by the end of the second week. Please dedicate a small amount of time each day to share the books together and talk about the stories which have been read (characters, setting, order of story etc.) To allow us to keep track of the children’s home reading, please sign the children’s reading record each time you read with your child and feel free to make a small comment to let us know how they got on.
* We will be inviting you to a ‘Meet and Greet’ on Thursday 17th October – 3:30 – 5:30pm. It will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions which may have come to mind after your child’s first few weeks in school. Remember… No question is a silly question!
We look forward to getting know you and your family over the next few weeks.
The FS2 Team x
Staff
We are very lucky to have 5 members of staff who work in the FS2 unit during the day. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s learning please feel free to talk to any member, who will try their best to help you. We are usually available each morning from 8:30am-8:45am and after school from 3:15pm-3:30pm. If we cannot help you immediately we will book a telephone appointment for a later date which is convenient for us both or alternatively you can send an email to our class email address and we will get back to you within 48 hours. Letters and Important Documents
We have worked hard to create a curriculum that allows the children to learn and explore both indoors and outdoors following the Early Years Framework. Why not take a look at what your children are going to be learning during the coming few months?

Helpful Websites
We live in a digital age and children can gain a lot of knowledge and understanding from good quality educational games and websites. We have made a list below of a few that we find useful in school, which may aid your child’s learning at home. Please let us know if you have any further suggestions and we will add them to the list.
