Catholic Social Teaching is taught across all classes through the Caritas programme throughout the year. We also ensure that the seven principles of Catholic Social Teaching are embedded across the curriculum. Finally, we make lots of opportunities for our children to live out these principles in their everyday lives through charitable giving, retreats, social justice work and other practical action.

Catholic Social Teaching Mural
A few years ago, we were delighted to welcome the incredibly talented graffiti artist Gray to St George’s. Gray transformed our Key Stage 2 playground wall with a vibrant and inspiring mural celebrating the seven principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
The mural has become a wonderful visual reminder of the values at the heart of our school community — encouraging our pupils to live out these principles every day. It certainly brings the playground to life and is something for our whole community to enjoy!

Catholic Social Teaching Whole School Retreat
Each year, we join together as a school to spend a full day on retreat focusing on the 7 Catholic Social Teaching principles.
We begin the day with a Celebration of the Word before moving to classes to focus on a particularly inspirational person who live out these principles in their daily lives. We learn about them as a person and how they can help to follow their example before concluding the day with a Celebration of the Word showcasing our learning.
