Ambassadors for Hope – Jubilee Year

We are delighted to introduce our Ambassadors for Hope.

Throughout the year, they will proudly represent our school at numerous events across the Trust and Diocese, embodying the values of hope and service in all they do.

Ambassadors of Hope Presentation

We had the honour of meeting Bishop Patrick and had the opportunity to introduce him to our floorbooks, offering a glimpse into the rich and vibrant Catholic life and Mission that defines our school community.

Our School Door of Hope

We created a chain of hope as a whole school to show the things we hope for the Jubilee year.

Our launch day!

Doors of Hope for Class Focus Tables

We hosted a competition in each class to design our Class Door of Hope. The winning design now graces the door, proudly displayed on our class focus tables.

Our Pledge Day

As part of our celebrations for the Jubilee Year, our school community came together for a special Pledge Day — a time to reflect, renew, and respond to God’s call in this significant year of faith. Pupils and staff took part in thoughtful activities centred on Catholic Social Teaching, the values of mercy, hope, and justice, and what it means to live as disciples today. Each class created a shared pledge—a promise to make a difference in their school, parish, or wider world. These pledges are now proudly displayed around the school as a living reminder of our commitment to living out the Gospel message in word and action.

Luce

Meet Luce, the official mascot for the Jubilee Year. We are fortunate to have her accompany us as we embark on this special journey. She’s been very busy joining us on our pilgrimage of hope throughout this remarkable year.

Luce accompanies Miss Lewis on a visit to St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.

Luce’s Pilgrimage Journey to Santiago de Compostela and Oviedo

As part of a special pilgrimage journey, Luce visited two of Spain’s most important Catholic sites. At the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, she stood at the South Door, pointing toward the North Door—also known as the Pilgrim’s Door—marking the historic route walked by pilgrims for centuries. Nearby, she stood beside a scallop shell, the iconic symbol of the Camino pilgrimage. The Cathedral holds the relics of St. James the Apostle, believed to have been brought from Jerusalem by early Christians—making it one of the most sacred destinations in the Catholic world.

Luce also visited the Cathedral of Oviedo, home to the Sudarium of Oviedo—the cloth believed to have covered the head of Jesus after the crucifixion. This sacred relic is only displayed during Holy Week, making the experience incredibly moving and deeply spiritual. These visits offered powerful moments of reflection, history, and connection to the roots of our Catholic faith.

Luce Pilgrimage around school

This past May, our school embarked on a special Mascot Pilgrimage to celebrate the Jubilee Year of Hope. Over three weeks, each class explored the theme of hope through engaging tasks and creative missions, fostering positivity throughout the school.

Activities included classes creating “Hope Walls” with drawings, composing hopeful music, writing kind messages, performing acts of kindness, and making “Hope in Nature” collages. Older students developed “Hopeful Hands” displays, sealed time capsules with future hopes, and drew Hopeful Journey Maps. The pilgrimage culminated in a celebration on May 23rd, where everyone shared their inspiring experiences of hope.

KS1 Pilgrimage to Newmount Church

As part of our Jubilee Year celebrations, our Key Stage 1 children visited Newmount Church for a special Visio Divina experience—a prayerful way of looking at sacred images. In this quiet and reflective setting, pupils were gently guided to observe religious artwork, listen to God’s Word, and share their thoughts and feelings. Through this beautiful form of prayer, even our youngest children learned how to listen with their hearts and respond to God with love and wonder. It was a peaceful and joyful moment that helped them grow in faith and recognise God’s presence in everyday life.

KS2 Jubilee Pilgrimage to St George’s Church

As part of our celebration of the Year of Jubilee, Key Stage 2 children walked to St George’s Church as Pilgrims of Hope. During our special visit, we joined together in a lectio divina—a reflective reading of scripture—focusing on the message of hope and renewal. Afterwards, we created colourful paper chains, each link representing a personal prayer or message of hope. These beautiful chains are now proudly displayed in the school foyer, reminding us all of our shared journey and joyful celebration.

One Life Music Retreat Day ‘Pilgrims of Hope’

We’ve had a joyful and faith-filled day to our Jubilee Retreat Day! Guided by the inspiring Dan and Emily from One Life Music, our students journeyed otgether as Pilgrims of Hope. Through uplifting song, prayers, activities and reflection, the children explored what it means to walk with Jesus and bring hope to the world.
